When using at home products, they have to be lower whitening gel percentages so that the gums don't get bothered from the gel, since there is no isolation. You can still get great results with products at home, but it will take some time (usually you should use the product daily for 1-2 weeks or as directed until you reach your desired shade). These are great options for people with sensitivity! Since the percents are lower, the risk for sensitivity isn't as high, and you can stop if you start to experience any. During this time, you have to be cautious of staining foods and drinks though, since the pores of the teeth are opened up after your whitening. This means you can take in staining easier, which is the reason why it might be hard to achieve results at home. When we are doing a professional treatment, you achieve your results immediately, and only have to be cautious of those pores for 1-2 days.
