Short answer, yes!
Long answer, the method I use is, but I'm not a fan of some others. I use a mix of hydrogen peroxide & carbamide peroxide gels so we can achieve brightness right away & continue to absorb over 6-24 hours after the treatment. This helps the teeth not appear as a "false white" result immediately after whitening (this means dehydrate the teeth to make them appear whiter right away, but as they hydrate again, the teeth drop in shade). The slower absorption also helps decrease the risk of sensitivity, as the pores of the teeth aren't being overwhelmed by the gel all at once. This is why you can hear some horror stories about people experiencing so much sensitivity after a professional whitening treatment. Other whitening treatments that aren't as safe (or effective) are abrasive agents. These can be damaging to the enamel or gums, and don't actually absorb into the tooth to change. the colour, they only help any staining on the surface.
